After bypoll, Kuldeep will know who I am: Udai Bhan | Chandigarh News – Times of India

BALSAMAND/LADWI: When Udai Bhan was made the president of the Haryana Congress Pradesh Committee (HPCC) in April, Kuldeep Bishnoi, then a Congress MLA, had objected to his elevation and even termed him a “non-entity”. Bishnoi, who wanted to take the command of the Congress in Haryana, later resigned from the party and joined the BJP.
Bhan, who is camping in Adampur to campaign for party candidate Jai Prakash in the high-octane contest against BJP’s Bhavya Bishnoi, on Sunday hit out at Kuldeep for his “anti-Dalit mentality”. Bhavya is the son of Kuldeep Bishnoi. The byelection for the Adampur constituency is scheduled for November 3.
“Kuldeep kehta hai kaun hai Udai Bhan, usse ab patalagega ki kaun hai Udai Bhan (Kuldeep Bishnoi had said who Udai Bhan, now he would come to know who I am),” the state congress chief said while addressing a gathering in Balsamand. Bhan said Kuldeep had resigned only because he could not tolerate a person from lower strata of society as state Congress chief. Bhan started his address by thanking the Congress party for appointing Malli-karjun Kharge, a Dalit leader, as the national president. Attacking the RSS, Udai Bhan it was the right-wing organisation that had “opposed the Constitution drafted by Bhimrao Ambedkar”.
Sources in the Congress party said the former HPCC president Kumari Selja might not visit Adampur due to her “not so good” relation with former chief minister and leader of opposition in Haryana assembly Bhupinder Singh Hooda, but Bhan had filled that vacuum, as he was well received in the constituency.
In most of the public addresses, Bhan mainly focuses on highlighting the weak points of Kuldeep Bishnoi. He has been telling the electorate that Kuldeep never raised any issue regarding the problems faced by the people of the constituency in the state assembly.
“He attended only a few sittings in the assembly andthat too to save his membership. He was never seen asking any question in the assembly,” said Bhan, while presenting Kuldeep’s record in the state assembly. “He deceived the Congress party and voted for BJP candidates in Rajya Sabha and in the President’s election. He left Congress because he could not tolerate a Dalit president and now, he is seeking votes for his self-interest only. After the poll, he will deceive you,” said Udai Bhan. He also reminded Kuldeep Bishnoi that his father had played a big role in Bhajan Lal’s rise to the post of chief minister.
“My grandfather was the head of the Hodal municipality during the British era, my father remained MLA twice, I have served as MLA four times, but surprisingly, Kuldeep asks who Udai Bhan is. He will get the response after this bypoll,” the senior Congress leader said at Balsamand.
