Who would have thought that after Pathaan, it would be the arrival of two films in the month of May which would result in over Rs. 300 crores coming in. Well, this has happened indeed, what with Bollywood’s The Kerala Story set to enter the Rs. 200 Crore Club and Hollywood’s Fast X all set to cross the Rs. 100 crores mark.
Let’s talk about the new release Fast X first. The film has got deep into a double digit score now, what with Saturday showing a jump in numbers and accumulating Rs. 16 crores*. The increase in footfalls was all over, be it multiplexes or single screens and major cities or small towns. Such is the reach of this franchise in India that just a single promo of the newest instalment has resulted in Rs. 41 crores* being gathered in 3 days with one big Sunday yet to come. All of this means that the film would be quite close to the Rs. 60 crores mark by the time the weekend is through and then the next 10-12 days will take it past the Rs. 100 crores mark.
As for The Kerala Story, the film will enter the Rs. 200 Crore Club tonight or at maximum tomorrow morning. Currently standing at Rs. 187.40 crores, it is now just a little over Rs. 10 crores away from the huge milestone and even though there would be an increase in numbers today, there may just be a shortfall of around a couple of crores. The momentum is there though for the Adah Sharma starrer, what with Rs. 9.15 crores more coming in on Saturday, which is a good increment over Rs. 6.60 crores, which had come a day before. While the double digit mark would be hit today for sure, it would not reach the crazy numbers that had come last weekend due to Fast X running in parallel as well and maintaining its lead.
*Estimates. Final numbers awaited
